Anthony Cooley | DFFDL

DFFDL is the ambient drone project of Melbourne sound artist Anthony Cooley. Through static drones, floating layers of hiss and glacially slow ambience, DFFDL creates an undeveloped snapshot of a feeling and lets the listener develop the details inside of it.

Through DFFDL the project has found itself privileged enough to be a involved in some amazing experiences.  DFFDL alone has played over 90 shows in the past 36 months, across Australia in VIC/SA/ACT/QLD/WA/TAS, with events both regionally and centrally, at various gallery and bar spaces. 2019 saw the first international tour of Japan playing 9 dates over 2 weeks in Tokyo, Minamisenju and Kawasaki.

To date, DFFDL has released 2 full lengths, an EP and two collaborative albums on such powerhouse labels as Frustration Jazz, Sombre Soniks, Chemical Imbalance and KVG Records. This year will see DFFDL release a new EP , on the crucial Melbourne/Russian Label NCTMMRN. The release ‘Corella’, expands upon those previous releases while seeking to carve out a more focused and emotive sound than the previous catalogue.
